The aim of
the Enterprise Learning by Doing programme is to increase the entrepreneurship
skills of young people within the Valley communities of Neath Port
Talbot.
Neath Port Talbot has one of the lowest business start up rates
in Wales. Statistics for the Valleys areas in the County Borough
show even lower levels of self-employment.
The Local Authority has made a commitment to “have a stronger,
more vibrant and sustainable future” for the Valleys through
its Positive Futures strategy. It has also committed to the development
of a Youth Entrepreneurship Action Plan.
Enterprise Learning by Doing which is a pilot project has been
funded by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to be run in former
coalmining areas in Neath Port Talbot.
The programme which is open to young people aged 14-25 in the Valley
communities of the Upper Amman, Dulais, Upper Afan Swansea and Neath
in Neath Port Talbot, is being run from the following Centres:
|
Dove Workshop
Amman Valley Enterprise
Glynneath Training Centre
Afan Riverside Centre
Ystalyfera Development Trust
|
Enterprise Learning by Doing is a ground breaking initiative which
will enable many young people in disadvantaged communities to raise
their ambitions and to improve their employment prospects.
